Bio
Michael Krans currently serves as the Vice President of Macy’s Media Network, the Macy’s Inc retail media network for the company’s three nameplates – Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Blue Mercury. Originally from Wisconsin and a graduate of the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities, Michael began his career at News America Marketing in New York. In 2002, Michael launched a career in magazine publishing that spanned nearly two decades. During this time, Michael worked for venerable media brands such as OUT, Conde Nast Traveler, The New Yorker, DETAILS and Harper’s Bazaar. He made an indelible mark at Harper's Bazaar where he led the digital transformation of the 150-year-old media brand by expanding its footprint across digital, social, video and e-commerce platforms. Most notably, Michael worked on the launch team for ShopBazaar.com, the industry's first "content-to-commerce" shopping platform. Toward the end of his time at Hearst, Michael served as VP, Head of Industry working consultatively with the company's largest fashion, beauty and retails partners to build data driven media solutions leveraging audience insights drawn from Hearst’s digital ecosystem of 26 media brands, such as Cosmopolitan, Good Housekeeping and Women's Health. In 2022, Michael joined Walmart Connect to lead the monetization efforts for Walmart’s apparel business leveraging his prior experience in shopper marketing, fashion and digital marketing. Michael lives in Maplewood, New Jersey with his husband and two daughters. In addition to supporting various adoption advocacy organizations, Michael is very involved in fundraising efforts for LGBTQ+ organizations such as Lambda Legal and the Hetrick Martin Institute.
